Greetings Ottawa-Carleton Virtual Community!
It is a pleasure and an honour to be your OCV school principal. We, as the staff and students of OCV Elementary, are thankful that we get to connect virtually each day. It amazes us how connected we can be in this platform. We would like to take a moment to acknowledge that our learning, playing and growing is taking place on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Algonquin People and we recognize their enduring presence on this land.
As educators, it is our number one responsibility to ensure that students are engaged in dynamic learning. We believe that every child can learn exponentially when the environment is conducive to learning. We believe that education is at the root of developing the leaders of tomorrow. As a staff here at OCV, we are dedicated to partnering with you to develop those leaders. We, with you, will encourage, challenge and support the growth of each and every student so that they can reach their full potential. At times, that learning may be hard for some or take longer for others but with dedication and support from us all as partners in education, our students will learn. They are our future, and they deserve every support we can give them to be successful.
The best part of our days are when we get to spend time with the young people in our virtual schools. It brings us great joy to watch them discover new things, see them delve deeper into subjects and listen to them as they talk about their ideas of the world around them. As they develop new learning paths in their brains each day, we hope that you too get an opportunity to see and hear all the wonderful connections they are making. We encourage you to ask questions of them. We also encourage you to speak with the dedicated staff who spend their days with your child(ren), reach out so they can give you the most fulsome picture of your child(ren)’s learning.
We also recognize that we could not do what we do each day without the help and dedication of our school community. We welcome your ideas about how we can ensure that OCV Elementary continues to blossom and grow as an engaging learning environment.
